About

TheLoomLabs is the independent consulting practice of Igor Dabić.

I am a DevOps & Systems Engineer based in Zagreb with over 9 years of experience helping organisations move critical systems between on-premise, private cloud, public cloud, hybrid, and government cloud environments.

Igor Dabić, founder of TheLoomLabs

Why TheLoomLabs

Migrations fail in the gap between the people who understand the risk and the people who make the call.

After years inside engineering teams migrating mission-critical systems for public-sector and private organisations, I started TheLoomLabs to do that work directly — without the layers that slow migrations down and dilute accountability.

The result is a deliberately small practice: you work with the engineer who assesses the environment, designs the migration path, documents the decisions, and stays through cutover. No handoffs, no sales layer between you and the person doing the work.

Technical background

Migration work for critical systems.

My background is centred on practical migration delivery: legacy application modernisation, government cloud migration, cloud-to-on-premise repatriation, DevOps platform relocation, secure system transitions, and the operational work needed to make migrated systems reliable after cutover.

Migration experience snapshot

  • 9+ years dedicated to migration delivery — assessment, execution, and post-cutover hardening — rather than general infrastructure work
  • Mission-critical legacy application migrations for national public-sector systems
  • Cloud repatriation and hybrid migration projects where cost, control, security, or performance made the current setup unsuitable
  • DevOps platform migrations for source control, build automation, artifact storage, runners, backups, and deployment workflows — focused on continuity, not unnecessary redesign
  • Platform-neutral experience across hyperscale and smaller clouds, private and government cloud, and on-premise — so the path fits the system, not a vendor

Relevant work

Migration delivery, not generic infrastructure advice.

Government cloud migration

Led migration and modernisation work for mission-critical public-sector applications, including case-management, administrative, and internal knowledge systems.

Secure platform transition

Designed and implemented infrastructure for secure confidential information exchange between EU member-state organisations, including transition from an existing platform to a new environment.

Hybrid cloud optimisation

Migrated services from public cloud to cost-effective on-premise infrastructure, improving control while reducing monthly spend.

DevOps platform migration

Migrated source control, build automation, artifact storage, and deployment tooling from on-premise infrastructure to a centralised cloud environment while preserving delivery workflows.

Migration readiness and hardening

Designed redundancy, disaster recovery, failover procedures, VPN infrastructure, monitoring, and automation needed to make migrations production-ready.

Direct migration consulting

Worked with clients worldwide to translate business needs into practical migration plans and reliable target infrastructure across cloud and hybrid environments.

How I work

How an engagement actually runs.

Migrations run in controlled waves with testing and a rollback path at each step, so risk stays contained instead of concentrated in one all-or-nothing cutover. Once the system is live, you get the runbooks, monitoring, and the reasoning behind each decision — the deliverable is infrastructure your team can run without depending on me.

Working principles

  • Start with discovery, constraints, risks, and dependencies
  • Design for security, reliability, observability, and rollback
  • Prefer pragmatic solutions that fit the team and mission
  • Document decisions and transfer knowledge clearly

Values

Calm, practical engineering discipline.

Clarity

Make dependencies, risks, and choices explicit.

Reliability

Design for stable operations, rollback, monitoring, and support.

Security

Respect identity, certificates, data protection, and access boundaries.

Documentation

Create artefacts teams can use after delivery.

Pragmatism

Choose approaches that fit constraints, budgets, skills, and timelines.

Knowledge transfer

Leave the team better equipped to operate and evolve the system.
